Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard surfaces

A comeback Medvedev secured his maiden title for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The Russian, a former world number one, has endured a difficult season, winning just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.

Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in specific - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with long-time mentor Gilles Cervara.

Now collaborating with Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily improved in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Moutet.

This marks the player's initial trophy after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface from spring of the previous year.

Success also indicates Medvedev has won 21 championships at twenty-one distinct events.

"For the first time I have attended a competition with my two daughters at once, so to secure a title is particularly special," commented world number 14 Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his last six finals, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.

His counter-punching strategy and frequent reactions on the tennis court had caused some to wonder if his ability to play at the top level was concluded.

However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and play positively, reinforced by an improved serve.

Medvedev came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, winning 4 of the concluding five points to take the lead.

Both players exchanged breaks in the following set before the challenger, striving for his initial tour title, gained dominance to push for a decider.

The opponent rescued 4 early-game break points in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured the title with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
