Critical Role Season Four Introduces the Warriors Table

From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of personalities, and a gripping narrative including angels, demons, and malevolent powers expanding in power within the city.

Warning: Revealing details for Episode 3 of the new season lie ahead.

The Warrior Group Revealed

The third episode finished on a huge suspense moment and introduced the premier party of characters who will branch out from the central cast to begin their independent quest, apart from the remaining groups.

The combat-focused team includes Teor Pridesire (portrayed by the voice actor), Thimble (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).

The Reason for Division

With 13 cast members, it was obvious from the beginning that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unworkable.

This explains, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the individual narratives before branching into three smaller tables: Fighters, Schemers, and Questers.

Characteristics of the Combat Party

Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for participants who are drawn to a traditionally charged fight-heavy story mode where non-violent answers are few and far between.

At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might appear out of place, but the actions of the third episode demonstrate why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

For one thing, the party knows exactly where to proceed after a intense initial meeting with the enemy group.

Casimir of the deceased character—whose death kicked off the campaign’s events—exploited the enemy for his personal gain, invading Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the rogue, and swiping all the enchanted items to dispose of.

The antagonist then settled his liabilities and ran away to a fortified location in the northern region, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd hot on his heels.

Personal Motivations

Additionally, each member has a specific drive to depart the metropolitan area:

  • The rogue, as the close ally and trusted friend, desires vengeance.
  • The adventurer is familiar with Timmony and advises that it is a hostile environment.
  • Tyranny and The cleric, having resisted his family’s wishes to eliminate the target and instead rescued him, have no other options.
  • But, their reputation as key figures in the powerful family could enable the party reach places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Additionally, Teor swore a life debt to The cleric for his deliverance and will now accompany him wherever.

Fugitives

Finally, all of them are wanted by the rulers that rule Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city dangerous:

  • Thimble and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
  • Tyranny and The healer turned against House Halovar and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
  • Teor is marked for death by the family.

This leaves them little choice but to travel to Timmony in search of the antagonist.

Upcoming Developments

Based on episode three’s Cooldown, we find out that the Soldiers table won’t be around next week, leaving the other eight players to form the Seekers and Strategists tables.

Fans can expect finding out which players will be assigned to which table in the story’s final introductory chapter, released on October 24.
